From Transference Healing, Animal Magic, by Alexis Cartwright: Stag is a creator of independence, and those who draw on their energy achieve a greater sense of poise and dignity. Stag represents strength and power, and allows you to utilize your energy and stamina.
Stag is the symbol of Cernnunos or Herne, a fertility god uniting man and nature. Lord of fertility, sexuality, vitality in the forest, the hunt, animals, life, death, and the underworld, he is a Sun God representing the Male principle, logic, power, truth, healing, arts, music. He is a great sage and magician – the Sun to the Goddess’ Moon. He is born at winter solstice, dies at summer solstice to bring fertility to the harvest.
Stag wants you to honor him with ceremony and ritual, to develop your own power and goals by joining with others in similar circumstances and experiences. The Stag is the center of the circle, you are invited to join with others around the Stag. Stag allows you to tap into your warrior spirit, to empower your solar plexus and naval chakras, and develop more into the astral and inner realms, to connect your body to the light, and to your heart’s wisdom.
