This is more information on fox, based on Alexis Cartwright’s “Transference Healing Animal Magic”
Fox teaches detachment. S/he is kin to dog, wolf and jackal. Unlike these others, fox is a solitary animal. Fox lives on the border areas, fringes of forest. S/he hides and lives in the forest, but feeds in the fields. S/he has remarkable ability to evade capture, and it is wise to watch where sh/e moves and follow his/her lead.
In Scottish folklore, the people would only cross the ice if a fox has safely crossed before them – trusting the wise instincts of the fox to know whether or not the ice is safe.
Fox hunts at twilight: dusk, or the hours just before dawn. In some cultures (such as Japan) fox is portrayed as a trickster, a character who breaks the rules by trickery or thievery.
Fox warns that you need to increase your flexibility and adaptability. You could be emotionally drained or burdened by others’ needs, or preyed upon by people who want something from you. Fox reminds you to remain clear and non-judgemental, and to maintain your boundaries in these situations.
Keep a sense of detachment, and fox will teach you how to gather the wisdom you need to move forward.
