Cook Mountains South Island New Zealand

Mountains speak of “where G-d speaks.” Moses went up a mountain to get the Law, mystics retreat to the mountains for solitude and vision. The mountains are the Crown Chakra of the world, the opening of the world into the heavens. They speak of grounding and of soaring at the same time. Climbing a mountain speaks of transcendence, liberation.

Mountains are new vistas, new growths, while caves are new depths, new intuitions.

A snow capped mountain speaks of spiritual aspirations – if you were on the mountain, then you have access to your goal. If you were looking at the mountain from somewhere else – you still have a ways to go.

Dreaming of the fire spewing mountain (volcano) may simply warn of risks before moving to high goals and plans. Psychoanalysts interpret it also as a need to remove certain feelings, memories and other distressing mental content from life, then it may also be important to pay attention to what is ejected from the crater of the volcano.

in dream imagery, a volcano is sometimes a warning of coming disruption, erupting emotions (especially anger) . Volcanoes are destructive – but they are also the very essence of creation. In order to start new and fresh, the old must be destroyed. It speaks of deep passions (fire) coming to the surface (earth and air).

There’s a Yes lyric for this: “Melting the anger to stone.”

Wollumbin – Called “Mt. Warning” by white folk, in New South Wales)

        Kinstitute - Mt. Warning

Wollumbin, known to Australians as “Mt. Warning” was as sacred to the tribes in the region, which included Bundjalung tribe who named the mountain Wollumbin. Apparently it was as important in Dreamtime Creation myths of the area, as Uluru was to the tribes of the Red Centre.

        It is called “Cloud Catcher.”

Mountain is often where pilgrimages go. The Vision Quest is often held on a mountain-top, while the village below prays in support of the Seeker. Moses went to the Mountain for his vision, and received his Holy Laws there.
