      Two Towers

      Petronas Towers

City streets, skyscrapers – 2 Towers – a city is a coming together. It’s not a community (that’s a village), but is developed, mature. Skyscrapers are reaching for the sky, representing the aspirations and ambitions of many. A single tower is a symbol of ego & attachment – and a city of them, is witness to just how much can be done in the realm of ego! I think you were observing them, not necessarily participating in it. “Just passing through.”

In America, the image of the Twin Towers is burned forever into our consciousness – like the Tower of Babel in Old Testament times, they are a warning against greed and ambition, arrogance and hubris. Even the greatest of these can fall.

      Two Towers - Tolkein

Tolkein chose the symbol of 2 Towers for The Lord of the Rings purposely. He was a deep student of lore, language & religious belief. In the Lord of the Rings, the Towers are dark power. One, controlled by Saruman, in the realm of humans, one in Mordor, to control the demons.

There are also two towers in the Moon tarot card, one black, one white. Between them is a passageway to the collective consciousness – some would say the Akashic Records, or the total knowledge of all humanity. But passage between the towers is not easy, as it requires balancing rational thought, and intuitive creativity.

Our brain consists of two hemispheres. Like in the tarot card, they govern rational thought and intuitive creativity. Through imaging studies, they are learning that there is some crossover in function, but for the most part, this is how humans function (if you damage a brain, function can be restored in a different part of the brain).

So I would suggest that the 2 towers speak of balancing yin and yang, rational and intuition, ambition and being yourself. Doing and Being.
